What's the difference between a Bay and Bow Window?

Bay windows and bow windows may appear similar from the outside, but they differ in a significant way. A bay window extends from the wall, forming an angular projection with three panels, and the space created can be stood in from the inside. On the other hand, a bow window is planted onto the wall, creating a curved projection with four or more equal-sized panels, and the resulting space cannot be stood in from the inside.

Bay Window

Angular projections that add real floor space.

A bay window extends outward from your exterior wall, forming a distinct, angular projection that typically uses three separate glass panels. Because this structure physically extends the perimeter of the room, the extra space created can actually be stood in from the inside. This effectively increases your room’s footprint, making it the perfect choice for creating a dedicated window seat, adding a feature area, or simply increasing the physical square footage of your living space.

Bow Window

Elegant, sweeping curves for panoramic views.

A bow window is planted directly onto your existing flat wall to create a smooth, curved projection. They are constructed using four or more equal-sized panels fitted together to create a gentle arch. While they beautifully open up the room visually and flood the space with light, the resulting space projects outward like a deep ledge and cannot be stood in from the inside. This makes them ideal for creating wide interior display shelves for plants or ornaments, whilst softening the external architectural lines of your property.

Our Reviews

Don’t just take our word for it, see what our satisfied customers have said about us for yourself!

From start to finish what a refreshing company to deal with. The fitters turned up on site on time, cleaned up after themselves.

Any questions were welcomed with all the right answers coming back, the guys who fitted the windows were brilliant knew exactly what they were doing and left the best finished product you could ask for.

We were very happy with the service provided by this company. They were very helpful from the start with advice, and once our order was placed the job was completed quickly, on time and to our satisfaction.

I would have no hesitation in using this company again should the opportunity arise
